Welcome to Mrs. Linnemeyer's Class

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to seventh grade Language Arts at Liberty Middle School! I look forward to another year full of excitement and challenges. In addition to learning new concepts, we will focus on organization, personal responsibility, and preparing for the transition beyond middle school.

I believe communication is the key to a successful relationship between parents and teachers. Below you will find information on classroom expectations, routines, and policies.

Communication

Throughout the year, I will be communicating with you via email, phone calls, notes, quarterly reports, and parent/teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. The best and quickest way to reach me is through email. My email address is klinnemeyer@ecusd7.org. You can also reach me by phone at (618) 655-6800 (school office) or through written notes. I am available for conferences regarding your student’s progress by appointment only on school days.

To Do List/Assignment Policy

In seventh grade, students are responsible for completing and turning in assignments/projects on time. The logical consequence for not doing so is a reduction in grade(s). Unless otherwise stated, assignments are due the following day immediately when students enter the classroom in the morning. Any assignment not turned in immediately upon arrival will be considered late. Any item that is placed on the “To Do List: Assignments” is considered their responsibility.

If an assignment is one day late, the grade will be reduced by 10%. If the assignment is 2 days late, the grade will be reduced by 20%.  After 3 days, a grade of zero will be entered in the grade book. If a pattern of late work emerges, parents/guardians will be contacted to discuss strategies for improvement.

Organization

Assignments will come home if not finished in class. Graded papers will be returned in a timely manner. Please review assignments carefully as this the best way to assess your child’s progress.

Students will have a agenda to use to record  assignments, project due dates, etc. Please take the time to review assignments and go over the agenda with your student. I also update our classroom website with due dates. The classroom website is an additional tool to use to verify assignments, and should not be strictly relied upon, in the event that I am not present at school and cannot update the "To Do List: Assignment" section.  In addition to checking the agenda and website, I strongly encourage you to log on to TigerView on a weekly basis to be up-to-date with your child’s current grades.

Classroom Management

Students will adhere to school rules, as well as the following classroom expectations:

  • Treat adults and peers with the upmost respect

  • Listen and not talk when the teacher is talking

  • Be prepared for class, participate in classroom activities, and complete assignments given by the teacher

  • Do not distract others from learning

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to working with you to help your student have a successful seventh grade year.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Linnemeyer
